RHS Harlow Carr at a glance
RHS Garden Harlow Carr is run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and sits on Crag Lane, Harrogate HG3 1QB. It is a ticketed garden, so you pay at the gate or book a day ticket online.
Prices depend on the day, not on a single fixed rate. The garden uses three adult day rates, called Saver, Off-peak and Standard. Children aged 5 to 16 pay £6, under 5s go free and RHS members enter free without booking.

Opening hours and the seasons

Winter hours
In winter the garden is open daily from 09:30 to 16:00, with last entry at 15:00. It is closed on 25 December. Do not assume these winter times apply in summer.
Seasonal rates
The three adult rates follow the calendar of weekdays, weekends and school holidays in the table above. A weekday in January is the cheapest kind of visit.
Other discounts
Adults who arrive without a car pay £12.90, and certain UK benefit recipients with their companions pay £1. Conditions and proof differ, so confirm them with the garden before you travel.
Glow in winter
Glow is a separate evening event on selected dates from 26 November to 30 December 2026. Tickets for non-members start from £15.25 for adults and from £8.75 for children, members from £9.50, member children from £5. Under 5s are free. Prices start "from" these amounts, so the final cost depends on the date.
Walk from Valley Gardens to Harlow Carr
You can walk to the garden from town. The route runs from Valley Gardens through the Pinewoods and is about 1.5 miles, or 2.4 km. That figure is for this route only, not from every hotel or from the station. Add the walk to Valley Gardens first if you start elsewhere.
The garden is a separate ticketed site at the end of the walk, so the path itself costs nothing. Read more about the park at the start of the route on our Valley Gardens and The Stray page, and about other routes on the Harrogate walks page.
