The Turkish Baths in Harrogate
The Royal Baths opened on 23 July 1897, and the Turkish Baths are the spa that remains from that building. You book a timed session, and plan on roughly 1.5 to 2 hours for the visit. Sessions at the Harrogate baths start every 30 minutes, and places per start are limited.
Prices below are per person in British pounds (£) for 2026. Booking ahead is strongly recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes before your start.

Our picks: other ways to spend a Harrogate day
The Turkish Baths session is booked separately, so book your session at the baths directly. If you want something to pair with it, the food tour and the fragrance workshop are in town, and the tea cruise is a calm outing from Skipton.

Spas in Harrogate
Harrogate is known for its spa past, but for a public bath session this is the place, with a minimum age of 16. Staying in a hotel with a spa does not automatically give you a bath session here, so book each separately. See where to stay in Harrogate for areas.
A short history
The spa town grew from the springs found in 1571. The Royal Baths, promoted by Richard Ellis while he was mayor from 1884 to 1887, opened on 23 July 1897 together with the Turkish Baths. Today the Turkish Baths operate together with Active North Yorkshire. The Royal Pump Room covers the wider story. For the whole timeline, read the history of Harrogate, and for the museum see the Royal Pump Room.
